I’m not sure if this quiz question has been posted before, namely because I’m not about to search over one hundred pages of topics for this forum section
My you folks have been busy
But anyway forgive me if this one has been done before:

CAN YOU NAME A SPECIFIC DOG BREED
Seen in any particular episode of LOTSW, and name the episode in which he makes his appearance?

I’m no expert on all the seasons of this show but I can name at least five different specific dog breeds which appear from season three through season twenty

Who can name this breed first, and tell us who owned such a handsome beast?

Eli’s Jack Russell Terrier, in my unbiased opinion the greatest dogs on the planet!
He lost it and gained a sheep!

…. Eli’s in the Charity Balls.
Is the dog a Doberman, looks familiar but can’t place the episode at the moment.

Wow
You folks really know your stuff
And I thought Wally batty had a Doberman pinscher
Now you mention it I do recall him calling the dog a whippet but he sure looked like a Doberman
Also there’s fifi, the candy-eating miniature French poodle at the beginning of odd dog men
Thanks for playing
You all get one Whoopie doll each

I believe that a labrador that Barry was searching for belonged to the then owners of the summer wine exhibition.

There may be a discrepancy between the English standard and the American standard of a breed. In some cases, especially when a breed is still being used for its original purpose and needs to conform to purpose based qualities, it will look different than a standard that is looking for an idealized specimen. The English whippet is smaller than the American and used to be called "the Poor Man's Racehorse". That was probably appropriate for Wally, already having racing pigeons. The word whippet used to mean a small or puny person, which suits Wally too.

I am not sure if they also owned the exhibition at the time Graham, but they did run the wrinkled stocking

To me Wally's dog looked much more like a Greyhound (a Whippet cousin?) for the dog race tracks than a Doberman guard dog. Though they do have similar sleek body styles. Side by side I feel the Dobie is a bit stockier.

Found some pics of them together.

A video of two young ones playing about.

I guess this popped up from my earlier whippet / greyhound search. Thought it humorous and pictured in my head Wally giving his whippet a ride in the sidecar of his motorbike. Did Wally ever name the dog? I can't remember.

I don't think we ever knew its name. Wally always called it "me whippet".
