Cataract Surgery

Some of you may remember but 14 months or so ago I had cataract surgery.I saw my optician on friday who gave me some news, I have developed what in laymans terms is called an "after cataract".This is a sort of skin that forms over the new lens that they put in. He says it can be sorted relatively easily by "lasering" and vision should be restored.My left eye is most affected but the right is on its way.I am referred to the eye specialist at our local hospital and await a consultation.I will let you know the outcome when it takes place. I am telling you this because I know I'm not the first and will not be the last that this happens to.I just feel that people should be aware of possible problems with the procedure of cataract surgery as I was warned. The irony is that the actual ops were near perfect ( the surgeon wished they were all as easy) So nil desperandum , I'm very hopeful. ;D

Now you have me worried!

I am due for cataract surgery in the next year or so.

As I said CC both my eyes were done in 1 month 14 months ago. The actual ops were a " doddle" at the time but I had to be in the 2 or 3 % that have to have a follow up op.I always was awkward (ask my wife) Still as I say I am trying to keep upbeat and positive. ;D I will ask anyway just in case it may be the meds I am already on!
 
Finally got my appointment with the specialist. It is on S aturday the 18th at a special appointments only clinic they have set up. Will keep you informed of any developements. :)
 
Just keeping everyone up to date, I had my exam with the specialist this morning and she said my eye can be fixed in 10 minutes by lasering. She has put me down for the earliest available slot so hopefully it should not be too long. The other eye will have to wait until it is as bad as the left one, however she says it seems o k for now. :) thanks again for all good wishes . From Dick.
 
Thats good news Dick, the quicker you get it sorted the better.
 
FINALLY GOT A DATE FOR THE OP, APRIL 9TH. FURTHER AWAY THAN I WAS LED TO BELIEVE BUT APPARENTLY THEY'VE HAD "STAFF SHORTAGE". STILL IT GIVES ME SOMETHING TO FOCUS( ::)) ON AND I WILL HOPEFULLY BE AS GOOD AS NEW AFTERWARD. :D
