Can anyone explain to me ,
If I wanted to join a shooting club and/or use a shotgun ,I would be subjected to police checks etc for a gun licence???

However "apparently" I can walk into a local hobby shop and buy a crossbow??

I agree Dick it does seem silly to allow this, you can buy a air rifle under a certain power without a licence, some clubs insist on a police check before you can join, others don't, yet a low powered air rifle can do a lot of damage
