What work would you think he would of been good at, I will start with my suggestion

Chimney sweep maybe, he would already have the right attire for the job anyway :D :D ;D

Not nice thing to say but sweeping the streets and picking up loose change that he would find.

Well he did have one - in the local Co-op!

No - Clegg was the lino salesman for the co-op. Compo never had a job because his family were too busy making a living out of being poor to find the time to go to work

actually Pauline Compo did work at the co-op in the 2nd series of First of the Summer Wine, so he did work but even after FOTSW in LOTSW it was referred to he never worked so I think both you and barmpot are right in a way

Well I am a bit dabt ;D

I have wondered since I began watching this show what lino is?

I imagine he could have been a good junk dealer, or just run a stall at a flea market. (I think car boot sales would be closest to that?) Charging lots of money for useless items, but I think he would enjoy the haggling.

Compo did have a job the official term was layabout, but cheeky style

I can't imagine him ever having a 'proper' job

I agree with the Betting Shop Manager and I'll throw in a sideline of Ferret Breeder.

In the US of A, a weed whacker is also known as a String Trimmer.
Presume that is a UK Strimmer???

Of course we might have said Compo was a "government artist" - drawing the dole (dole = unemployment benefit for the benefit of our USA followers).

wasn't there something about encylopedias and going to university in an episode somewhere ??
