From memory the Weakest Link was on for 45mins, I think this was forward planning for when it sold on the format, to fit in 15 mins of adverts, the typical 30min comedies are usually on UK Gold etc for 40 mins to include adverts. However I've definitely noticed more adverts of late, I accept adverts pay for the costs, but when there are 5 min ad breaks every 15mins and truncated programming people like me just won't bother watching them.

I was at a friends house and they had an expensive sky TV package, flicking through the endless channels it was hard to fall onto a channel not showing adverts, or if you fell upon a program then within minutes there would be a add break, plus there now seems to be many of the so called shopping channels

And some of the shopping channels on Sky actually have ad breaks in them, how crazy is that!?

I really enjoy watching these old shows because they reflect all of the good values. I like watching Johnny Carson, especially the monologues because he talks about things that were problematic in those days, smog, what problems President Reagan had -- you know those really normal problems., etc. On another note, thankfully they do not edit out the "meeting the contestants" on the old games shows rerun here in the US.

Is it. I never knew that. So the BBC is showing it's own programmes on UKTV and editing them themselves?
Yes and even worse, they gave themselves all these great shows which were bought and paid for by the Licence payer including LOSW to rebroadcast via other methods and make a profit from plus advertising, now doing the same with Britbox

I haven't viewed many shows yet as just took the trial to catch up on Midsomer Murders, DCI Banks and Touch of Frost which abruptly ended on ITV3 before all episodes/series were shown only for them to repeat from the start again without showing the missing ones so I have Britbox on trial for 30 days and watching the episodes the abruptly removed spookily just before Britbox was launched . All three did attract adverts when first aired but they are removed on Britbox which is great . You can actually spot where the breaks were . I will probably cancel it after 30 days as I will have watched what I wanted .

I think it should, there is a very strong chance our beloved comedy will have parts edited out when they're next on TV, and I think the general consensus is this is wrong.
I think Comedy is in serious trouble with this going on... Here in Aussie they want to change Queensland and Victoria now cause they go back to the "bad old days"..

HOw about this one? A Beer brand in strife...

I love watching A Touch of Frost. I also find it annoying when it goes back to the beginning.
I'm thinking of buying the whole series on DVD.

Well, if they can broadcast their shows on free to air channels, we don't really need a TV licence.

I know. It's worse when they even edit out part of the actual game on a game show. I watched Family Fortunes on Challenge yesterday and at the end game we had got to the second player's third answer (out of 5). It wasn't a top answer, so we knew they couldn't win the car. The other answers were edited out, so we didn't get to see if they won the £5000 jackpot money. It finished up: "Oh you can't get the car - Goodbye", even though there were still two answers left to reveal!

On that subject of Family Fortunes, one of the well known stupid answers in the days of Max Bygraves was, name a dangerous race? and the contestant answered, The Arabs. Can't imagine that will ever get replayed!

One of my friends overheard a customer in her local supermarket objecting to the market selling Corona Beer because "it carries coronavirus". Next thing we know, the ignorant majority will object to anything suggesting the shape of a crown. In the meantime, the manufacturer has suspended brewing that product line because it has become unmarketable.

Wow, I didn't know that! I love Corona beer especially with a lime in on a summers day. It's actually a Mexican beer, I wondered why I'd not seen them in the supermarket for a while.....

Well, now you know. If it's any comfort to you, it will probably be back on the supermarket shelves eventually.

How about the man who answered "turkey" to three questions in the end game. (Ironically, from the "Thicke" family!) There are so many stupid answers it's mind boggling. Seriously though, if everything that is thought to need censoring actually was censored, there would be hardly anything left to broadcast.
