Stanley Baxter died at the age of 99.
Best known for The Big Stanley Picture Show, Mr Majeika, The Fast Lady, Father Came Too, Very Important Person, Crooks Anonymous.
One of the greats from the golden age.

Wow, I didn't know he was still alive TBH. amazing to think both he and Kenneth Williams were Sergeants in ENSA together in WW2!
 
He was unique, a strong talent that became too costly for the BBC. He leaves behind a legacy of talent that is better represented commercially than Dick Emery at least.
 
Looking at Wiki.. he has an interesting award

I see someone has put one of his later shows for LWT (The Stanley Baxter Hour, 1982) on YouTube.
I gathered they stopped making these shows because they were expensive and lavish.
And you see the quality, too.
I think LWT concentrated on 'Live from Her Majesty's' after this - another high quality light entertainment programme.
