Eric

The Erics, the warrior people, great knee fighters.
In 'How Not to Cry at Weddings' Hobbo mentioned the Erics, but he differentiated them from the Saxons (Germans from Saxony) and the Franks. So who were the Erics? They might have been the Vikings, after all they were mentioned in several episodes as having visited Yorkshire (for lapeing and rooting, etc.). Two famous Vikings were Eric the Red and Leif Ericson (son of Eric), drawing an inference to the name Eric. But, you wouldn't think of the Vikings as knee fighters, probably preferring large blunt implements wielded by their well exercised rowing arms.
