My wife and I were running down actors and actresses during the LOTSW series and sometimes we were left scratching our heads. It seems hard to believe that in "Who's That Merry Man with Billy, Then?" from 2006 the actress playing D.W. Cheatum is actress Valerie Leon. When you look back at her career (Tanya the lotus eater from 1978’s Revenge of the Pink Panther for example) she seems so different! I didn’t believe it at first, I thought there must be 2 by the same name, but it actually checks out, that’s her. – T&R
 
I agree, often these glamorous types are extremely vain and won't appear in anything without being 4 hours in make up. I think it was testament to her that she agreed to play this part looking very plain indeed when clearly she is a very beautiful woman. Perhaps the makers got the idea from On The Buses where dowdy looking Olive has played by Anna Karen who was very attractive in real life.
 
I agree, very commendable and shows off her versitility and flexibility as an actress. She'll be forever seen as a glamour girl but as this shows capable of much more than that.
