Chatbox Q??

Not sure how to control this, but it seems that whenever I am not
in any other area/thread/whatever, I am automatically signed
in at the Chat box even when just going from one thread to
another. Whenever I am on the "main page" of the forum, my
ID appears in the Chat box. But I am only ever passing thru
to another thread. Must be confusing to any users watching
the Chat box as I appear and vanish periodically. Is there any
way to "opt out" unless I really intend to be in the Chat box???

When on another thread, I cannot see the Chat box and so cannot
tell whether I am still shown online.

The chatbox picks up your status automatically upon a page refresh and assumes you are "in" the chatbox.
There is no way to control this I'm afraid, but I can turn this feature off as it's of no obvious benefit to anybody.

What feature is that? Do you mean the feature of having
me logged into the Chat box whenever (!!!) I am not
actually looking at a thread?? If that's it, yes can you
please turn that off.

I'd much rather there was a way to purposely access the
Chat Box intentionally rather than having IDs continually
appearing in and disappearing from the Chat Box as folks
cruise the threads.

The feature itself is supposed to just show who has been active (posted a comment) on the chatbox. A side-affect of that is that when a member refreshes the "Home" page it will still show that member as active in the chatbox, even though they may well be browsing other things.

Yesterday you were moaning:

For example, I can no longer figure out how to send a message
on the chat box

so today I make it easier to send a message and what happens, you whinge again.
Jeez, there really is no pleasing some people.
