Thank you for the information Terry very much appreciated . I see now it was a monument to Queen Victoria's 60 years on the throne . It says the cost of the build was £3298 so using a historic calculator that equates to £296295.32 in today's money ,which given it's proportions is quite reasonable plus it was clearly built to last unlike some modern properties which cost far more.
