Big Cars and Trucks!

Having been in Yorkshire recently, and looking at various web sites,
seems to me that UK cars and trucks have gotten way bigger
than they used to be. Looking more the size of US vehicles.

I can see that in the cities, but how do they manage the roads
up around Tan Hill and out by North and West Yorkshire??

We often drive on roads so narrow there isn't even room for
a white line. Must get awfully crowded.

You have to be very careful Chuck

No, but what I mean is that back a few years, especially up
North, the roads (as narrow as they are) did not seem so
crowded as the cars seemed so much smaller. The cars
seem to have gotten larger but the roads are the same size
they were. Am I the only one that thinks so??

Chuck I agree if you look at the iconic Mini from the 60's and look at the latest model there is no comparison

Same applies to many makes and models , the current trend seems to be bigger is better and yes all but Motorways and some A class roads have never been re-engineered in any shape or form, other than for the occasional filling in of pot holes.

Now what is fascinating I think, is that on the UK detective/police
shows that we watch (Lewis, Midsomer Murders, Rosemary & Thyme)
the cars seem bigger, like old Rover's. Many look as big as
American cars. What's with that? Where did they drive those?

Chuck they mainly drive them in big towns or cities, they never ever go off road,in London they call them the Chelsea tractor

In Midsomer Murders, Troy, the bagman, was traditionally inept at driving and always seemed to have close calls. In a recent episode, Barnaby had a close call with a little red car that ran off the road. Who should pop out? None other than Troy who had previously gotten a promotion and had been away for the past few years.
