Are You Being Served

I thought Take a Letter Mr Jones wasn't too bad really

If you want to see how bad it is Talking Pictures Encore is showing it , also announced showing of a series called Tell Me Another hosted by Dick Hills [Dick from Sid and Dick screenwriters for Morecambe and Wise] where stars of the days tell their stories and anecdotes in a number of episodes , people like Spike Milligan, Jim Dale, Jimmy Jewel, Diana Dors . The like to take a letter is below , you can register for the site and they send you mails detailing programmes and films you can watch for anyone who may be interested.

I watched TALMJ and I abandoned it after the first 3 episodes, I felt it was very, very poor. It was also slammed by critics at the time. Odd Man Out which starred Inman was marginally better and at least watchable. Episodes of the latter can be found on the internet.

Personally I thought TALMJ was a reasonable ITV sitcom of it's day.

If you really want to watch an undiscovered, forgotten classic - try watching A Sharp Intake of Breath with David Jason (four series to watch).

I grabbed all 7 episodes of Odd Man Out a while back, don't remember where from. I call it the Mr. Humphries & Elizabeth show (Josephine Tewson was more Elizabeth than Miss Davenport at that time :) )

I like Odd Man Out and have been thinking of picking it up on DVD lately. Watched a poor copy on youtube some time back, enjoyed it. Thought John and Josephine had some good characters. Wish they made more episodes, the premise for the story was good.

YouTube is maybe where I grabbed it, they are only about 68MB each. It's no longer there. Another series I think I grabbed at YouTube (glad I did now because I don't see it online anywhere now other than an odd episode) is an 10 episode (5 unaired) Mel Brooks hotel set farce series from 1989 The Nutt House with Harvey Korman and Cloris Leachman which is not available on DVD. The only reason the remaining episodes are out there is because after it was pulled in the US halfway it later ran in full in UK. I see bootleg DVDs offered that only have the US aired episodes. I thought it was a pretty funny show but that kind of humor isn't appreciated by the masses.

Amazon has some Odd Man Outs for about $8.50 plus $4 shipping currently. They are Region 2 DVDs. Not really a problem if you know how.

I am not familiar with the Mel Brooks show you mentioned. Anything with him and Harvey Korman has got to be a laugh. Classics, those guys. Grew up watching them and Tim Conway, Carol Burnett and others.

Save your money Rick :D

Even IMDb & Wikipedia have very limited info on it which is surprising given the 3 big names attached. My copies are just over 1GB if you'd like me to zip & share them.

I live on the gulf coast not far from the Biloxi casinos. Back in the 90s they had quite a number of the classic comedians and I got to see Tim & Harvey on their "Together Again" tour. They did a bunch of their classics, the dentist sketch, old man, Dorf and had impressionist Louise DuArt with them who stood in for Carol.
