Any Gardeners??

I want to know if and when I can prune a magnolia?? I've no idea what variety it is, I do know its not the stellate variety. It produces large pink flowers and was my late wife's favourite. It is however straggling all over the place and I would like to cut it back. It took 2 or 3 years to blossom at first and I am scared of killing it!

A gardener yes, but I do not have any magnolias. I didn't know you trimmed them back, but I have seen the bottom limbs cut off so you may get a lawn mower underneath. I am sure any of those sites that Pearl posted will give you an idea. Did not know they grew that far north.

The only magnolia I knew was the stuff in a round can which was placed on walls
