I agree the views are very different here,but after living up on the moors for 12 years the place we lived had really changed,troublesome neighbours, a village school that had more than trebled it's intake and hours of business,so for 10 hours a day the noise and disruption was terrible,plus a element from the town had discovered the place was a easy target

Now we live on a gated park,no children or pets allowed,there are 350 homes here yet often you would think you were the only person for miles,we are all the same age group and consider our neighbours and help each other,so views are great but peace of mind is even better, and maybe a big bonus is we have a doctors where we can phone up and often get an appointment the same or next day

Terry, I am really sorry for the changes in Yorkshire that you
endured. For us visitors, Holmfirth, Hawes, and Haworth
will always be idyllic small villages with good pubs and
quiet streets. We never see the seamy side of life there.

Here in our part of North Carolina, we are beginning to see
those same elements creeping in a bit at a time, and we may
also have to look for a gated community in which to hide
from what's out there.
