1994 interview with Bill Owen on Spotify

What a wonderful interview, thanks for sharing Tommy!

What I found really interesting, is he said he didn't really have any actor friends. He mentioned that he had a drink once a year at the Garrick Club with Peter but he certainly didn't give the impression they were anything more but acquaintances. Yet they are buried next to one another......

Maybe each of their bonds to Holmfirth was greater than their bond to each other but that was enough.

A great find, Bill from all quarters sadly has been coming across as a rather solitary figure but one that fought fierecely for the working classes. An excellent all round actor that made a unique character in Thelmas' dad Compo.

This is really the first I've hear Bill Owen speak at length. Good interviewer too, very relaxing in an at-home setting. Interesting, insightful and heartbreaking all at the same time. Thank you for sharing.
