I have no idea as to what kind of personality Marina's mom has, but Howard could go there. Remember the bathtub episode? Auntie Wainright wasn't asked to deliver the tub from a "friend". Howard felt perfectly welcome and comfortable to personally take it to her with the aid of his friends; so he...
I agree. I'm astounded that one man wrote this show for over 30 years. Great, great job. And all the while he was also writing other shows. My husband started watching LOTSW some years ago and then got me watching. I fell in love with it. My side was already hurting from watching Hyacinth.
This is great! ..I have the DVD series in both SD and HD; but never knew there was a 2 disc prequel. I just found and ordered it on Ebay. Thanks a lot. :)
I agree. Sitcoms aren't meant to be taken extremely seriously. However, if you don't really look at what's happening with the characters you will never fully understand them or what's happening. For example..Pearl being what one would call a "long suffering wife". She's a sweet person..like all...
I laugh during the show (in the past and currently) and at Howard's scheming, plotting, and planning to get with Marina. It still fascinates me that he found an 'other' woman willing to meet him in hedge bottoms and be thrown over walls if he even suspects that his wife is coming...Loll-lol-l...
I have to say..the only other man she ever loved; Compo. He had over the years become a scruffy little thing, but (from one of the early eppis (Mending Stuart's Leg))..they had VE night. And when Wally once left her..she wasted no time in taking Compo up on his offer. ( All before the show...
Lol...I don't know. I don't think he meant that she literally proposed. Remember Glegg said that "back in those days once a woman took your arm in public you never really got it back."
Pearl and Howard kissed and cuddled..we know. Also, even if that's as far as the physical connection went. It was too far. Howard was married to Pearl. They weren't playing house together. Vows had been taken and agreed to. I'm pretty sure they didn't include implied (or direct) permission to...
During the show it was made clear ( by his own admission) that Howard has fooled around with other women before Marina. This means that included in the history of their marriage are Pearl's efforts to try and keep her husband from straying. What exactly was she doing to make his life miserable...
