    How would they have Managed

I can picture now the long shots of the trio walking through the hills two metres apart. And Nora keeping Compo two metres away with a long brush. Ivy preparing to open the cafe so people can dine outside at tables, expecting the customers to eat and drink without removing their face masks...

We know what it is with our eyes closed [thank you Mr Hazelhurst !!!]

And there is a Ronnie Hazlehurst piece used to represent rock music listened to by Wesley in his pick up.

We know what it is with our eyes closed [thank you Mr Hazelhurst !!!]

Yes, and there is certain jingle played when a pub is seen or mentioned.

    How did Marina Manage this

On a similar note, I'm not quite sure how Clegg was able to stand on his bicycle to tap on Sid's bedroom window in Getting Sam Home.

    Especially in them shoes.

    Outdated language?

After a look on Google, outdated language means neither acceptable or useful. I don't think there's ever been anything unacceptable in LOTSW, language or otherwise. I suggest we all use LOTSW language at all times, so it becomes accepted.

    Outdated language?

It wouldn't surprise me if they make that announcement on all the episodes, just in case some random person decides to take offence about something that isn't even offensive. I think people have decided that a sitcom that BEGAN in the 70s is bound to be offensive, even through to the 90s and...

    Whom is whom?

In a nutshell, Ivy in FOTSW is Ivy in LOTSW.

    Whom is whom?

Ivy (as in Ivy of LOTSW) is supposed to be the age as Compo, Clegg, Sid, Nora, Wally etc, etc. The actress Jane Freeman was quite a bit younger than the rest of the cast. In the early series of LOTSW it was not specified how old she and Sid were, but as her friendship with Nora developed, it...

    Cast Remembered

I wouldn't have liked Sid or Wally to have been written out simply by leaving their wives - doesn't fit in with the spirit of this show. There would also be the temptation to bring the character back a few years later with a different actor - NO WAY would that have worked. I think if a much...

    Cast Remembered

Well, some WERE mentioned again, sometimes many years later. I think Sid was mentioned by Ivy in Uncle of the Bride, then again in a mid 90s episode. And of course his picture was seen in the Compo trilogy. Wally was mentioned by Nora quite a lot in later years. But Seymour and Blamire were...

    THE WINDOW

In the 1970s episodes it is an old fashioned 1930s panelled door with no window. This changed in the early 1980s.

    THE WINDOW

Are we talking about the kitchen window, or the window in the kitchen door? Or both?

    CHRISTMAS EVES?

Yes, I noticed that - bit shoddy really. It's Christmas Eve, then the next day is Christmas Eve. I think we discussed this a few years back, and I think our detective work even came to the conclusion that Xmas Eve 1988 was a Sunday when shops were more prone to being closed. Or something like...

    LOTSW Fan Fiction?

There was someone here (female I think) who was going to write a script - this was years ago.

    Character's last names

I would like to know if Crusher was from Sid's family, or Ivy's family. I always liked to think Sid's. Perhaps Mr Linsley might know.

    Reg Numbers #2

For cars around 1963 to 1983, you go by the last letter, W, which from memory makes it 1980 or 1981 - I think. I'll try and work out the letters - from memory, without looking it up...

Now for something completely different ?

I think there are rules about size, style of print, and even where gaps between the letters and numbers have to be. Everything is supposed to be the same, basically. Some people with no actual life try to re-position certain letters/numbers in an attempt to make it look like it spells out a...
