holmfirth station

Thank you, Roger. Was trying to get a rough idea of what it might look like now. Going by the photo, anyway.

I had the book 'The Last of The Summer Wine Line' up till recently. What really surprised me as for such a short branch line it was double tracked from construction up till a couple of years before it was closed.

That seems like quite a grade change from one side of the building to the other. Track side nice and level but street side has a slope. May be just an illusion to my eyes.

No, you are right Rick, the road is steep but the ground would have been made level on the other side for the railway.
The old station building is now a private house but I read somewhere that a part of the old platform has been retained. You do catch a glimpse of it from the upper deck of a bus using Station Road.
Fantastic photos, thank you manwinoname and ferret.
Further down the road is a new house called "Turntable House" for obvious reasons, it all makes me so sad that the railway is no longer there as I love old railways and the age of steam.

The heart of our railways was ripped out in the 60's, always believed this was very short sighted, some have been restored for full service use, some Heritage lines, but the bulk will never be seen again

We walked up the old lines of the Tissington Trail near us last weekend. These pics were taken when we camped next to it earlier this year.55869387_2268997586692385_8403699411271548928_n.jpg49467880_2215309375394540_5813909834877108224_n.jpg
