Sadly another great entertainer has passed,I only read yesterday he had cancelled shows for 6 months, he was needing a rest following ill health
 
I saw him broadcast from his Hospital Bed to deny he had passed away and he said he hoped to be out soon and back on the road but sadly it was just not meant to be . He is probably the last of the original great variety entertainers who learned their craft on the road and honed their act to perfection after years of slogging away. He was never blue just a bit risque borne out by such jokes as " What a beautiful day for putting cake, cream and custard in your wife's stockings and trifling with her affections"

My favourite line , which I have shared before but it is so funny, came out in Court when he was on trial for Tax evasion when as part of his defence he stood up and said " The tax collector is Inland Revenue , I live on the coast so I didn't think I had to pay" . A sad loss of one of the greats.
