Yes, Prime Minister (Perfect, and really, my idea of THE best in the world.)
Fawlty Towers
Yes, Minister
To The Manor Born
and my fifth would be down to either I Love Lucy or The Honeymooners.

I watched Rock and Chips, the prequel to Only Fools for the first time today and quite enjoyed it. It was on UK GOLD last night. Apparently there were another couple of episodes of this aired last Xmas, is that right? (according to Wiki anyway) Did anybody watch them and if so, were they any good?

Just been looking at this: doen a little analysis of responses

out of all those mentioned - there were six with three or more mentions:

Clear winner was Open All Hours (9)
followed by Are you being served? (7)
then Only Fools and Horses
Porridge
Dad's Army
Steptoe and Son

if I totted up correctly ....

It's obvious I am so sadly lacking in what's available to watch from
the British Isles! I only watch or buy LOSW! However, I am quite
content with this!

My own choices are...

Steptoe and Son
Rising Damp
George and Mildred
Dads Army
Bless This House

Hector.

Well just because you are across the pond does not mean you need to miss out on some of the best of our comedy, though lately the TV companies over do not understand what comedy is, there are many folk on this forum who would only be to pleased to direct you towards some of the great stuff that has been made over here, and some of it will be just as enjoyable as LOSW, some even have the cast from the show appearing in it

Terry

After Last of the Summer Wine

Open All Hours
Dads Army
Steptoe and Son
Hancock's Half Hour
The Army Game

It is really hard to choose, I could also include Porridge, One Foot in the Grave, Allo! Allo!, It Ain't Half Hot Mum
