Is the 8-bell peal at Holy Trinity, Holmfirth, ever rung?

If it is, the ringers must practice more than just on handbells, but there's no practice night shown in the tower list on the Yorkshire Association of Change Ringers web site @ http://www.yacrwestern.org.uk. That could be out of date, though. Since I'll be in Holmfirth next year in late September and early October from a Monday mid-day through Friday right after breakfast, if they actually do a full practice, I'd like to know when so I can hang out where I can hear them clearly, but from enough of a distance to not be deafened.

I know that the sound of change ringing isn't to everyone's taste, but I enjoy it a lot.

While we can point you to wonderful change ringing in Askrigg, Oxenhope, and Durham (the cathedral), we are not so sure that you will hear change ringing in the Holmfirth area
(including Holy Trinity or Saint John's) -- never found it there.

Maybe better off in Huddersfield??

Have you looked here: http://www.yacrwestern.org.uk/ or here? http://www.holme-valley-anglican-church.org/ and send them a message??

According to the Yorkshire Association of Change Ringers site, St Peter's in Huddersfield has a 10-bell peal, but there's no practice night listed, and in all the years I've lodged about a block from the church I've never heard the bells rung. St John's in Upperthong isn't listed there at all.

It occurred to me that since I'll be lodging for several days in a town with a peal of bells, I might hear a practice, but it isn't essential for enjoying my stay there.

Keighley and Skipton are listed with a Tuesday practice night. There is a fine peal at Gargrave as well.

Mmm .. gonna have to drag out our Sayers next. Thanks for
the reminder.

Currently working my way (yet again) thru Nevil Shute, my all
time favorite writer (and British too!!). Just now reading the
Chequerboard.
