As a long time fan of Summer Wine, I visited Holmfirth and district for 16 years when they were filming. On one of my visits, I picked up a copy of Issue 1 of the Summer Wine Appreciation society, which I joined.
In one of their publications I found out about the previews of the shows and I applied for tickets. I visited Central London to the BBC headquarters, to Teddington Studio's and Leatherhead Theatre to watch the previews twice a year thereafter until the series demise.
I took photos on location whilst they were filming and afterwards. I took photo's during the sketches done at the previews and met a number of stars during these visits.
I wrote to the BBC on a number of occasions about Summer Wine, only to be fobbed off with a crud reply.
I do miss the series, but I would have liked it to have gone out with a 2 hour special, that brought all its stars together, albeit on film.
