very sad news...glad frank managed a leading role in truly after a career of being an accomplished support actor.

A really Great British Actor who will live on in those wonderful programs and films.

Very sad news indeed! Heard it on the radio coming home from work, and brought a tear to my eye. Was very fortunate to meet Mr Thornton on several occassions and always had time for a chat/ photograph! A true gentleman, comedy legend who will be sadly missed! RIP Truly...

Just realised this morning that Frank died almost exactly a decade after Thora Hird. She passed 15 March 2003. Coincidence
