Holmfirth Lights

Captain, not sure if you have seen the BritCom show Hardware... I sure hope they treat the customers nicer at Kayes.

Thanks for another great picture.

Kaye's treats its customers extremely well. The staff knows the stock and where to find all of it; they're patient and pleasant.

That's the only shop I buy tin openers from, also has a great range of enameled kitchen ware, I bought an enamel butter dish there just a few weeks to ago.

I imagine unlike B&Q , Wickes etc you can buy individual items rather than having to buy a pack of 60 nails when you need two and not at the inflated price the big superstores sell at . I imagine the service is first rate and very personal whereas on the occasions I have been to Wickes , in particular, you can never find anyone to help and have to resort to knocking over a display or dropping something metal and heavy to make an almighty clang just to attract attention .

So Pearl, just where do you live?? I'm assuming that you
live in the UK and not in the US??

And BTW, what is a "tin opener"? An opener to open
tins (cans here in the US) or a opener made from the
metal tin?

It Is, It's a lovely place. Him in doors clutches his wallet extra tight when we go in there. Mostly I spend money in there and Daisy Lane books.

I' m in the UK. Yes tin opener opens tin cans.

Bought some souvenir T-Towels from Kayes when I was over there. I also had a good look around. Reminded me of the old hardware shops we USED to have, the kind where you could walk in and ask for half a dozen left-hand thread nuts and a
6 inch piece of copper wire and not only did they have them, but the staff KNEW they had them, where they were, how much they cost and how to use them!!!!:42:

I also had a look around Daisy Lane Books. I didn't realize until I was there how "vertical" the shop is and how many nooks and crannies they have crammed with books. I had to physically drag N0.2 son away from the place.;)
