Hello from another new member in the USA!

Hello everyone! I'm happy to have found this website. LOTSW has captured my heart! I look forward to chatting with everyone & browsing all the photos and info here!

I discovered the show (like many other US fans) through our local PBS station, which still airs it every Saturday morning. I look forward to it all week. I wish I could find the entire series in a box set or something! For now I'm trying to collect anything I can find that's compatible with our DVD players here. I also hope to visit Holmfirth one day.

Hullo there, from Southern Arizona! I've gotten most of the series as they've been released bit by bit on Region 1 (only a few seasons remaining) from Ebay, although Amazon will have them as well. Originally 20 years ago I was videotaping them off PBS and filled up many cassettes, until they FINALLY began releasing them to our market on DVD.

A very warm welcome to the site , I hope you enjoy your time on here and I look forward to your posts on the forum. There are some really great photographs on the site and if you have not viewed them it is well worth the effort to look through them . One of the members in particular has posted stills from the show and has photographed the locations as they are today and they make an interesting contrast .:)

Welcome aboard, sadly there is no complete box set yet, though it will no doubt be available in time, at least the entire series is on DVD now on Region 2 anyway, a lot of folk from the USA buy themselves a multi region DVD player so they can buy the UK releases and enjoy watching them, I am informed you can buy these players for around $40

Thanks, Terry. You've saved me from having to repeat myself for the umpteenth time.:)

And welcome to The Former Mrs. Truelove. I'm envious that your PBS station broadcasts our favorite program. Mine broadcast series 17 a long time ago and then dropped it. I began buying the Region 2 DVD sets in 2006 and replaced my rather old player with a region-free one at the same time. I've never looked back!

You wait till you get to my age!

Come on Dick you know Pearl will never admit to being your age , like a lot of ladies ,who will never proffer their true age . As an example my Mum went out with a gentleman for a few years who was a number of years younger than her . At the time Mum had her Senior Citizen's bus pass but her Gentleman friend was not old enough to qualify and paid his fare . Not to be caught out she never used her pass and always paid her fare . It went on for about three years until she decided enough is enough and admitted her age was older than he probably believed [it was costing her a lot of money because he did not pay for her by mutual agreement] . When she disclosed the fact she was older he smugly admitted that he knew that she was older as he had seen her passport when they had gone abroad and he had handed both over to a Hotel Receptionist.

Well my Mum was incensed and of course it was all his fault, how did he think it was right that she had paid all that money over to the bus company when he would have known she had a pass . The relationship cooled not long after the disclosure. :)

Captain, sounds like the poor guy was in a Catch 22, damned if you do damned if you don't kinda situation. Your story reminds me of a conversation from Doc Martin between Bert and Al Large. Where Bert is trying to give his son AL some advice on women as Al is having girlfriend issues with Pauline. It goes something like this:

Are you having trouble with your girl? Well, whatever it is, you can be sure of one thing -- At the end of the day, it’ll all be your fault. I mean, that’s the way their mind works. You see, the thing is, it’s just easier to apologize. It’ll get you off the hook, and before you know it, she’s cooking you something tasty for your tea and you’re watching “Match of the Day”, Result! Like I said, All you have to do is apologize. What about a nice bunch of flowers? -- Always worked for me, nice bunch of flowers.

Sorry if I have hijacked your thread, the Former Mrs. Truelove... or I could be lying :08:. Love it when Truly says that! Was a big fan of his since he was Captain Peacock from Are you Being Served as well as Are You Being Served Again / Grace and Favor. Glad to have you here with us barmpots. :42:

Cheers,
Rick

:20::20::20:

Blithering cheek.... I'm no where near Dicks age.... I'm young enough to be his much younger sister :p

Young as you feel , age is just a number plus all those other platitudes . Dick's age varies dramatically , it reduces significantly when a certain female member of the cast is dressed in certain attire . :08:
