Holmfirth-snow on 'tops

Evening all, we had a quick visit to Holmfirth today. Just the usual mooch around the town, walking the dogs and a visit to the Bridge Bakery for a treat.
The Bamforth building looks about to collapse and the area around Noras/Compos steps could do with a tidy but apart from that all is well.
We had some snow on our side of the Pennines last Saturday and there was still a smattering of it on Holme Moss today, stopped off in the car park on the top and in the wind it was absolutely freezing.

Great pictures, ferret!

Thank you as well for providing access to the larger size versions of them too. You mentioned the Bamforth building, which one is that in relation to Summer Wine?

Very clever idea with the 'picture frame'.

Cheers,
Rick

Nice bit of history about the Bamforth. Shame it has fallen to disrepair.

That reminds me, I believe that the show Rising Damp has Yorkshire TV or something in the intro credits. Not from the same company, but still nice to know that such film and TV production talent came from the local area.

Cheers,
Rick

Evening, the Bamforth building is on the right hand side of Station Rd as you leave Holmfirth, it played a major part in putting Holmfirth on the map, with early films being filmed/produced in the town using locals as actors/extras.

The metal picture frame is situated on the top of Holme Moss overlooking the town/reservoir.

So that is what the station road cam was aimed at for a while. I'd never seen it as it was . :respect:

I really enjoy seeing these pictures. Until I get to take my own tour of Summerwine history, they are perfect.

Lovely photos. That stream looks lovely, I can just see Compo splashing down it looking for fish.
