well I've collected a lot of memorabilia, dvd wise I have 1-24 on r2 dvd and vintage 1995 r1 dvd, I've got all the uk vhs releases, I've got the old books off ebay, I got the toy cars of Edie and Wesley off ebay as well got a few things from the Summer Wine shop including one off canvases made especially for me, I've got a framed painting of Bill Owen as Compo, got a lot of photos and autographs as well. Danbury Mint wise I have all 10 figurines they did of Compo, Nora, Clegg, Truly, Howard, Marina, Pearl, Wally, Auntie Wainwright and Foggy, got the 8 plates of Compo, Clegg, Foggy, Truly, Nora, Pearl, Howard and Marina, got the 6 houses they did and the display stand for them, currently collecting the pins Danbury Mint are doing and are up to number 33 of 50 and also got the Compo Steiff Bear and have pre-ordered the Nora Batty Bear from them so have a lot of memorabilia to choose from but I would say my favourite is the Danbury Mint Foggy plate and the reason is simple, I have plate number 1 so it means its even more special to me.

Edit - I forgot to add I also own Waldo, Tom's dog and its nice to think I have an actual piece of memorabilia from the show itself

tough choice but I will go for Paul Bown as the extra-terrestrial watcher in "Welcome to Earth" I thought he gave a good performance and think his extra-terrestrial approach in the show was better than Mark Curry's in the later series.
 
I myself enjoy Keeping up Appearances, in fact my first British sitcom. Who is your favorite character on that show and for what reason?

I would say my favourite character is Emmet, I liked how even though he wasn't henpecked like Richard Hyacinth tried to and I liked how he tried to get out of things she wanted him to do and failing miserably.
 
In a previous statement, you said that you were too old to get in media? Were you also saying your too old to go to college? Do you mind explaining that? You are awfully young to be saying that... in my opinion of course....speaking like a mother hen.. ;)

I don't feel im too old for college if the right course comes along but what I meant was that I see the media as a profession you have to get into young to do well in it and I just feel as though I've just missed out on doing that as a career by a few years, but that's my own opinion I'm sure others would think differently to me

If you really want it, go for it Darren!!! I have faith that you have the talent for it. You are really into LOTSW and know soooo much about it. You seem to be very thorough, so you seem like you would give it your all!! :D
I used to do a little mentoring to high school guys and I have seen guys really chase after their dreams and succeed. Some didn't succeed, but they have told me, at least I gave it a shot.

Darren, You said Foggy was your favorite I believe. Out of the Cyril Blamire series, which one was your favorite? ( If more than one, put in order 3,2,1.)

I would say both of Blamires series are good but I prefer series 1 then series 2, the reason is cause series 1 has "The New Mobile Trio" in it which is my favourite Blamire episode

out of the regular cast it's between three characters and they are Roz, Nellie and Mr Wainwright the librarian, I weren't keen on them two ladies cause I thought they were a bit snobbish at times, I know Edie was snobbish but with her she had moments when she wasn't as well but I will go for Mr Wainwright cause I didn't like the idea of the middle aged man chasing a married women he seemed a bit lecherous to me (there could be another word to describe him but I won't on here).

I see now that the questions slowed down a little I thought I might discuss the issues of disliked characters with Darren (not that I am directly trying to make you even busier with this thread).

Over the years I read comments on this site about why some members don't like certain characters. Examples are Foggy is too snobbish, the early Tom is too dishonest, etc. I find that members sometimes don't like the characters because they would not like the person in real life. Members here are certainly entitled to dislike whom they choose and I respect that. However, for me it is whether the character goes well with the show and surrounding cast. Also, not every character has to be funny. Sometimes a "bad" character or unfunny character is needed to bring out the best comedy of others.

Darren, You mentioned Mr. Wainwright and his chasing after a married woman. However, it was just a certain character for the Blamire era. I thought it was enjoyable to see some of his moments with Mrs. Partridge disturbed by the trio. And as for the ladies, a little snobbery was part of their humor to contrast with the guys.

A few years back a poll was taken to see you the funniest American TV character of all time was. The honors went to Seinfeld's George Castanza. (I know- a lot of you here don't like Seinfeld). The character of George was dishonest, insincere, a cheap skate, and a coward at times. But those poor character traits were all part of the humor.

Anyway Darren, I didn't mean to go on and on about this. And I mean to post this in a friendly manner. The disliking of characters and why can be an interesting discussion.

I would say my favourite character was Wally, I like how the actor portrayed the younger Wally chasing after Nora, overall I think the series is very good, another gem from Roy Clarke, watch the dvds of it at least once a year

well we all have a opinion on the show and there all different views which I have no problem people thinking differently to me (Hobbo comes to mind with that one as an example), I know maybe in the 70's a middle aged man lusting over a married women was normal and probably still is nowadays a little but for me I didn't like it, he showed he was lecherous when he came back and was the same with Miss Moody, its just how we see the characters and our backgrounds in life make us think differently, going on another couple of shows in Are You Being Served I didn't like Mrs Slocombe even though shes probably one of the fans favourite and in Birds of a Feather I didn't like how Pauline Quirke portrayed Sharon when it was on BBC, keeping open minded about the characters now its on ITV, but there are two other examples of me not liking characters, but as I say its all down to personal choice.

Darren, Here's one. If the directors were to ask you to fill in for a few episodes who would you like to play? Don't go by who you are most like personality wise, not to fill someones shoes,or your favorite character.

good question, I would say it would have to be Foggy, he is my favourite character of all time so I would love to have put on that green coat, hat and walking stick and boss Compo around :D
 
We are watching a Truly right now, and we were just commenting on how Foggy was good at bossing Compo around. Truly took it easy on Compo compared to Foggy. Foggy was a good one!
