Wally Batty's pigeons

Is there an episode where we actually see Wally attending to his pigeons, or does he always indirectly refer to them? Also, was therer any mention of what happened to them after Wally passed on? I'm assuming Nora picked up where Wally left off, or maybe let them go.

I seem to remember him holding a pigeon in an episode, it may have been a Christmas special. I don't know what happened to them but I know that in racing communites like that if the wife or offspring don't take them on then fellow racers will usually take them. I believe friends buy the best ones from the widow and share out and look after the rest, often the pigeons are left to people in wills.
My brother in law used to race them and my dad when he was younger, so this just what I have picked up over time.

You are very right Susan it was a Christmas special but can't remmeber which one. He was I believe on a balcony which we never seen before and couldn't figure out which part of the house it was. But it was the only time. Though I think once he and Nora took some pigeons in the wicker cage to release them. Maybe someone can rememebr which episode it was.

It was. I was just going to post the same thing.

You people are to smart. Abot the other time I am sure that Wally and Nora went on his motor bike to release them somewhere. Nora was holding the pigeon basket on her lap..

I thought it was Taking Sam home, I was going to look into it later. Well done.
I think there was another one too but I can't quite place it.
There was The Mysterious Feet of Nora Batty when they are trying to get Wally to remember the size of her feet, there sitting next to his loft then.

The pigeon loft was at the end of the row of houses where Nora live, see picture below, now built on,I have put a cross on where it used to be

Yes you are right that is it. Don't know why I thought it was on a balcony. Thanks for finding it for us...

Did I say something wrong because I just noticed that beside the wording "Report ot Moderator" there are some numbers. I am the only one who has that. Please someone tell me...

I don't know which episode it was, but I seem to remember Nora mentioning that she gave Wally's pigeons to so & so, I forget the name. But it was mentioned once by Nora what happened to the pigeons. Pigeons, are very dirty creatures, by the way, carrying disease, they're like flying rats. I don't see why anyone would want to keep them in cages and take care of them. Maybe this is a British thing, in the US they are considered a nuisance by most.

That's a good a picture.

Hate seeing new extensions on old buildings, especially near something as iconic as this, but that's progress.

The picture clearly shows how unlikely it is that Compo's place could have an upstairs bedroom window, as seen in very close up shots in many an episode. Don't know which window they did you for filming purposes, probably one from Nora's house for convenience.
